Known for his distinctive vocals and narrative songwriting style, Thammarat emerged into the commercial music scene in 2024 with the release of Songs With Granddad, a six-song cover EP featuring his late grandfather, Jim Connell. The project is the culmination of over 4 years of joyful music-making around a tiny living room piano and includes some of Jim’s most cherished songs like Unchained Melody, I'll Be Seeing You, and Love Me Tender.
Following the EP’s release, Thammarat began sharing his original songs, including Buckle Up, a theatrical ballad inspired by a particularly challenging relationship with another guy, and Normal, a queer anthem about embracing your most authentic self.
Inspired by artists like Ben Platt, Chappell Roan, and David Archuleta, Thammarat seeks to embed himself within the ever-expanding landscape of queer musicianship while continually challenging ideas around race and gender. His music is introspective, romantic, theatrical, philosophical, and, above all else, rooted in collective experience.
As a performer, Thammarat has sung with numerous D.C./Maryland-based ensembles, most notably the GenOUT Youth Chorus (2015-2021), with appearances at the Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral, White House, Library of Congress, and the 2016 GALA Choruses Festival. He was also a Teen Choir member for the 2018 Horatio Alger Awards ceremony at DAR Constitution Hall and a featured speaker and soloist at the 2019 plaque dedication ceremony honoring Matthew Shepard.
In a world that often insists we fit into neat little boxes, THAMMARAT’s new single “Normal” kicks those boxes wide open and invites us to embrace our whole selves—loudly, proudly, and unapologetically.
Thammarat’s new single, “Normal,” is a powerful pop hit and the perfect addition to any indie playlist.
Thammarat doesn’t just write lyrics—they paint emotions. Every line of “Normal” feels like a letter from a friend who sees you, knows you, and gets it. This is anthem music, built to be sung at full volume with your heart wide open.
