It’s a rare thing to hear queer desire celebrated without spectacle,
and even rarer for it to sound this sincere.

From Maryland, Thammarat (pronounced TAH-mah-raht) is a stop-in-your-track vocalist who transforms his experiences as a gay, Asian American romantic into original songs that pierce to the heart of queer desire. His music blends sonic elements of chamber, synth, and indie pop with the emotional honesty of musical theater, inviting listeners into moments that are intimate, cinematic, and often unexpected. With songs that resonate and a voice you'll remember, Thammarat stands out as a versatile and charismatic artist who makes beauty mean something.
“I learned that I could be loud in a beautiful way and I haven’t shut up since.”
Thammarat emerged into the commercial music scene in 2024 with the release of Songs With Granddad, a six-song cover EP featuring his late grandfather, Jim Connell. The project is the culmination of over 4 years of joyful music-making around a tiny living room piano and includes some of Jim’s most cherished songs like Unchained Melody, I'll Be Seeing You, and Love Me Tender.
Following the EP’s release, Thammarat began sharing his original songs, including Buckle Up, a romantic pop ballad inspired by the inner turmoil he experienced following a failed relationship, and Normal, a queer anthem about normalizing what makes you beautiful.
Inspired by artists such as Ben Platt, David Archuleta, Chappell Roan, and Jude York, Thammarat aims to embed himself within the ever-expanding landscape of queer musicianship while continually challenging ideas around race and gender.
His newest song, "Single Umbrella", is available on all streaming platforms!
