Currently based in New York, Thammarat is a queer, Thai-American singer-songwriter and performer from Maryland. His songs capture the sonic essence of chamber, synth, and indie pop while mixing theatrical vocals and narrative elements of musical theater and R&B. As Odyssey Magazine writes: “Thammarat doesn’t just write lyrics—they paint emotions.” Inspired by artists like Ben Platt, David Archuleta, Chappell Roan, and Jude York, Thammarat seeks to embed himself within the ever-expanding landscape of queer musicianship while continually challenging ideas around race and gender. Thammarat’s music is introspective, romantic, theatrical, philosophical, and, above all else, rooted in collective experience.
As a performer, Thammarat has sung with numerous D.C./Maryland-based ensembles, most notably the GenOUT Youth Chorus (2015-2021), with appearances at the Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral, White House, Library of Congress, and the 2016 GALA Choruses Festival. He was also a Teen Choir member for the 2018 Horatio Alger Awards ceremony at DAR Constitution Hall and a featured speaker and soloist at the 2019 plaque dedication ceremony honoring Matthew Shepard.
In 2024, Thammarat released his first cover EP, Songs With Granddad, which features his late grandfather, Papa Jim, on piano. His most recent single is Normal, an LGBTQIA+ anthem about rejecting heteronormativity and living life to the fullest.
